ABOUT

Rachel Helton has worked in the nonprofit sector since 2010. Rachel's role in organizations is to be responsible for grant writing, fundraising, development, communications and marketing. Helton is the owner of Helton Consulting, LLC. Helton is a native of southwest Virginia - grew up in Wise, Virginia. Helton's work includes grant writing, grant and foundation reporting, creating and sustaining relationships with foundation and organizations and includes creating and sustaining relationships as well as with individuals for private donations, donor cultivation and planned giving opportunities. Rachel helps sustain organizations of variable budget sizes. Helton is a leader in the nonprofit sector. Helton is a leader in health care, promoting the mission of providing quality, affordable, accessible care to all with an emphasis on serving the medically underserved. ​

Helton is a strong business development professional and leader. Helton has proven abilities to lead strategic planning, organizational initiatives, manage public relations efforts and manage resource and cultivation (fundraising – including capital projects). Helton is specifically adept in local, state and national legislative arenas acting as the liaison with delegates, senators and congressmen. Helton's skills also reach into nonprofit project management and planning, budgeting and fiscal management (P&L/Balance Sheet), compliance, fundraising, capital projects fundraising and capital management, communication strategy, strategic planning, project management, grant writing and management, event planning, social media, public speaking, marketing and healthcare policy.

Rachel is a true humanitarian  at heart with a passion to make possible increase equitable opportunities for all and serve the medically underserved. Helton was born in Wise County in 1985 and has an identical twin.  Helton and her sister attended J.J. Kelly High School.  Helton was a four-year starter and captain on the women’s basketball team. Rachel majored in Business Administration, was a four year-started on the women’s basketball team and graduated from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in 2007. Helton is active in fundraising for the Candice B. Rakes Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship created many years ago after a tragic accident with a fellow basketball player. In 2010, Rachel received her MBA with a focus on healthcare management from King University and served as class president.
